‘The Recess’ to vie at Garden State filmfest

Iranian short film ‘The Recess’ has made its way to the Garden State Film Festival in the US.

Navid Nikkhah-Azad’s 12-minute film will represent Iran at the 19th edition of the event.

The star of the film Mojan Kordi has recently won the award for best performance at the Living Skies Student Film Festival in Canada.

The short film tells the story of a 17-year-old school-girl who runs away from school to watch the football match of her beloved club.

Sahar, along with three of her friends, is planning to exit the school during the break in order to watch the match between Esteghlal FC and Al Ain FC at Azadi Sports Complex.

In addition to Kordi, Reyhaneh Naieean, Niloufar Shokouhinia, and Ghazal Khalili are on the cast list of the short flick.

Launched in 2002, the Garden State Film Festival has hosted films and film industry notables in its different editions.

According to the official website of the event, “it is rooted in the celebration of the independent film genre and the creation of a forum where local and other independent filmmakers can exhibit their work.”

The upcoming edition of the event will be held on March 23-28, 2021.
